Saawan Duvvuri, Editor-in-Chief

Saawan Duvvuri is a 2025–2026 Editor-in-Chief of the Peabody Press and has been a member of the staff since joining USN his sophomore year. Saawan enjoys writing at the intersections of journalism, social justice, racial advocacy, and global affairs, with a particular focus on the Middle East. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of LiteratureDiversified, the nation’s leading K–12 youth-led culturally responsive education nonprofit working to diversify English and History curricula across the world.

Outside of school, Saawan is deeply engaged in political advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. He leads Tennessee’s Student Equity Leadership Board, chairs his state representative’s Youth Advisory Council, and serves as Co-Chair of the Education Trust in Tennessee’s EmpowerEd Youth Commission. Since his freshman year, Saawan has also conducted, published, and presented research with Harvard’s Hutchins Center for African and African American Research, Vanderbilt University’s Initiative for Race Research & Justice, and UCLA’s Department of Sociology. He also enjoys working out and playing tennis and captains USN’s Varsity Men’s Tennis Team.

Saawan is a Diana Award Recipient, a United States Senate Youth Program Delegate ($10k), a Prudential Emerging Visionary ($5k), a Princeton Prize in Race Relations winner ($2.5k), a Carnegie Civic Leaders Fellow ($7.5k), an Ashoka Young Changemaker, and a multi–Scholastic Writing Award honoree. He was also a U.S. Department of State National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Arabic Scholar to Amman, Jordan in 2024. His work has been featured by CBS, NBC’s Today Show, Fox News, NASDAQ, and other national outlets.
